What is IUI?

Purpose of IUI

The main goal of IUI is to increase the number of motile sperm reaching the egg in the fallopian tube, thereby enhancing the chances of natural fertilization. It is a less invasive and more affordable alternative to advanced treatments like IVF and is often combined with ovulation induction to improve results.

Step-by-Step Process

1.Cycle Monitoring

Your menstrual cycle is tracked through ultrasound and/or hormone tests to determine the optimal time for ovulation. Ovulation induction medications may be prescribed if needed.

2. Semen Collection & Preparation

On the day of the procedure, a semen sample is collected. In the lab, it is processed to concentrate the healthiest, most motile sperm and remove impurities.

3. Insemination

Using a soft, thin catheter, the prepared sperm is gently inserted directly into the uterus. This quick and painless procedure takes only a few minutes and is usually done in our outpatient setting.

4. Post-Procedure Care

Patients are advised to rest briefly after the procedure and can resume normal activities shortly thereafter. A pregnancy test is scheduled approximately two weeks later.
